Message from the President

Having served as the Commissioner of ICAC, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), China for the past ten years, it is my deep honour to take on a new role in the Commission.  Mr Woo Ying-ming, Danny was appointed by the Central People’s Government of China (CPG) as the Commissioner of ICAC, HKSAR on 1 July 2022.  In the interim, with the endorsement and full support of CPG and the Government of HKSAR, Mr Woo has appointed me as the Special Adviser of ICAC and the delegated official of the Commission in IAACA to ensure the continuity of my Presidency in IAACA in the coming year.  With the support of the Executive Committee (ExCo) and the Secretariat set up at ICAC, I will continue to steer IAACA towards the missions of advancing the global fight against corruption and enhancing the Association’s involvement in the international anti-corruption community thereby enabling the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

By the concerted efforts of the ExCo in taking forward the new Regional Coordination Mechanism, the Association is reaching out to anti-corruption agencies (ACAs) in different regions to deepen communication and collaboration at full steam.  Besides, ExCo members are leveraging their extensive network to promote IAACA at international conferences and regional seminars, thus bringing IAACA’s visibility to a new height.  In less than half a year, 24 ACAs have joined the Association as organisational members, bringing our membership size close to 150.  With IAACA serving as the international focal point for ACAs, together, we are moving towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 16.5 to “substantially reduce corruption and bribery in all their forms” by 2030.
